Early in my hotel career, I had the opportunity to do my internship at a Sheraton hotel. With that in mind, I was eager for my stay at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur, and, this time, to experience the Sheraton hospitality from the other side of the table.
Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur is located right in the city’s Golden Triangle, with plenty of public transport options nearby, including Medan Tuanku MRL, as well as some of KL’s main tourist attractions. There is also a shopping mall right opposite the hotel entrance.
The hotel lobby is impressively grand, with a very high ceiling is very high, many walls are covered by wooden panels and a giant staircase.
check-in was quite speedy and in a couple of minutes, I was on the way to my 27th-floor suite.
Staying at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur
My Deluxe room was very spacious and overlooked the city, with KL Tower right in front of me. It was easy to just want to enjoy the view, with those floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the tower and some of Kuala Lumpur’s skyscrapers. Being a large room, it also had a small lounge area with a sofa, a coffee table and the working desk that I always use on my trips.
My bathroom was also very large and I had a separate bath and a shower. The toiletries were of Sheraton’s own brand.
The room also had a large walk-in closet with a lot of storage space – perfect for those shopaholics and those with a lot of luggage. It also also had an iron and an ironing board, which I always find useful.
Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur has some great dining options, with five restaurants and bars, offering options for all tastes. I had a late dinner at Essence, the all-day dining restaurant that offers a la cart and buffet options.
I decided to go for the a la carte menu and chose a two-course meal. My starter was a Caesar salad, which was delicious, followed by the “Essence Ultimate Nasi Goreng”, a Malay-style fried rice with achar, a fried egg, seafood, ayam percik and prawn crackers. All washed up with a nice glass of sauvignon blanc.
Next morning I skipped breakfast, as I was still full from the previous night. But given the typically hot weather you will find in Kuala Lumpur, I went for a short swim in the hotel’s outdoor pool. I found the pool area very pleasant, with some sun loungers and a lot of plants, giving it a nice tropical feel.
After swimming, I rushed to my room to and went to check out. Just like my check-in, check-out was fast and the receptionist was very pleasant.
I found the hotel beautiful and very luxurious, with special attention given to the public areas, which could be in any top 5-star hotel. My room was also very nice, spacious and super comfortable. Taking the price into consideration, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur probably offers the best value for money in the Malaysian capital.
Since my stay, I have recommended the hotel to a number of friends and will continue to do so. Until I return!Address: Jalan Sultan Ismail, 50250 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
