Hi guys! How’s it going? Today I want to talk about a nice and cheap hostel in Athens Greece that I’ve recently stayed in. It’s the Athens Hawks Hostel located in… have a guess? Yes, you got it! I found the hostel on Booking.com and what made me choose it over others was the location, the price and the 8.4/10 rating.

Cheap Hostel In Athens: Athens Hawks

Athens Hawks Hostel is located around 7 minutes’ walk from Omonia metro station. Even though this is not one of the best areas in Athens, the hostel is only 10 minutes by foot from the trendy Monastiraki area, famous for its cool street art graffitis, the many cafes, restaurants and the night life.

The hostel occupies an entire 9-floor building and offers private rooms with a balcony, as well as dorms with different bed configurations. Most of the dorms are mixed, but they also have female-only ones. If you don’t like to share the room with loads of people, Athens Hawks Hostel has dorms with 4 beds, going to the maximum of 10 beds (5 bunkbeds). Most rooms are ensuite and the bathrooms are very homely.

Breakfast is not included in the price, but it is available for €4 per person, which I think is a reasonable price for what I saw being served – I decided to have breakfast elsewhere. They also have a kitchen area where you can make your own meals, if you choose to.

In terms of common areas, the entire second floor is sort of a lounge with a bar, with many comfy sofas, working desks and even a pool table. The bar serves beers and cocktails at reasonable prices and in the evening the atmosphere is really good.

Final Observation

For what you get, I thought Athens Hawks fabulous. It is a cheap Athens hostel and, at the same time, it looks brand new, it’s super clean, it has comfy beds, spotless bathroom and a cool lounge area. The only thing is the street where it is located, which at first doesn’t feel too safe, specially if you’re a single woman. I guess this is what makes the hotel so affordable – if it was elsewhere, I’d expect prices to be at least 50% higher.
